Keep up to Date!

Do you want to keep up to date with the latest posts on the CFBT blog? There are several ways you can do this:

  • Bookmark the site and visit regularly
  • Subscribe to our RSS feed

Bookmarking the site and visiting regularly requires you to do all the work and you might miss important information if you forget to check your bookmark. RSS provides a simple way to automate notification of a new post to the CFBT blog.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for rich site summary or really simple syndication. This technology provides a method of getting relevant and up to date information sent to you to read at your convenience. This saves time and helps you quickly get the information you want.

It is useful to think of an RSS feed as a subscription. It is like subscribing to a newsletter or magazine delivered by mail. However, in this case, the information is delivered to your RSS Reader every time the website updates.

There are a number of ways to subscribe to a RSS feed. One way is to use a RSS feed reader such as Google Reader. For example, I added the Google Reader to my iGoogle personalized home page so every time I access the internet, I can check my RSS feeds.

Google Reader

The best way to gain familiarity with iGoogle and Google Reader is to sign up for a free Google account and experiment. Adding a subscription is a simple as clicking on the Add a Subscription link on the Google Reader page and inserting the URL for the CFBT Blog (http://cfbt-us.com/wordpress/?feed=rss2).

If you already use Google Reader (or another web based feed reader) simply click on the CFBT RSS Icon and follow the instructions to subscribe to the feed!

If you would prefer not to use an on-line feed reader, you can also use Microsoft Outlook as a feed reader.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Account Settings.
  2. On the RSS Feeds tab, click New.
  3. In the New RSS Feed dialog box, type or paste the URL of the RSS Feed. For example, http://cfbt-us.com/wordpress/?feed=rss2.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click OK.

Your updates will arrive in the Outlook RSS Feeds folder.
